National Paving Restores the San Bernardino National Forest’s Alpine Pedal Path and Meadow’s Edge Picnic Area

Big Bear Lake, CA (August 20, 2008) - In an effort to raise health and environmental awareness National Paving Company donates its services to restore recreational facilities and natural habitats in the San Bernardino National Forest.

National Paving Company has fulfilled its commitment to the United States Department of Agriculture having rehabilitated the Alpine Pedal Path and The Meadows Edge Picnic parking area.

Alpine Pedal Path is a multi-use path located at the north shore of Big Bear Lake. The three-mile long paved pathway had become well worn from many years of heavy use, and was in need of resurfacing. Benefiting people of all ages, the path is one of the forest’s most popular attractions promoting healthy lifestyles and environmental education.

“The Alpine Pedal Path and the Meadows Edge Picnic Area are treasured spots for visitors to the San Bernardino National Forest as well local area residents,” said Jeanne Wade Evans, Forest Supervisor. “We’re pleased that National Paving has partnered with us in this rehabilitation effort to improve the quality of recreational experiences in the San Bernardino National Forest.”

National Paving Company, a dedicated supporter and partner of the San Bernardino National Forest has developed a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to make the Alpine Pedal Path more enjoyable for residents and forest visitors valued at $80,000.

The National Forest Association’s Discovery Center, that co-manages and utilizes the Alpine Pedal Path for fitness classes and educational tours, has expressed deep gratitude towards National Paving Company.

"We are very excited about this generous offering from the National Paving Company," shared San Bernardino National Forest Association Executive Director, Sarah Miggins. "This project marks the completion of a legacy project within the San Bernardino National Forest. The Alpine Pedal Path is a Forest gem that attracts thousands of nature enthusiasts each year to Big Bear Valley. This partnership is particularly vital to the success of the educational programs that are offered at the Big Bear Discovery Center. The contributions from the National Paving Company will expand SBNFA's capacity to connect with millions of people in Southern California.”
